And the winner is …
on Feb7 2013Me, apparently.
A Touch of Poison has just won the 2012 Watty Award for Most Popular Fantasy Novel. I’m seriously floored.
I liked the story idea, and I liked the feedback I was getting on it, but I honestly had no idea that it would end up doing so well. It’s still doing well, as a matter of fact, sitting in the top five for Fantasy despite the fact that I haven’t touched a single page since back in June.
I’ve had some amazing fans, too. Some have told me they’ve read the story 2-3 times now, and pray nightly for a sequel. I have this sneaking suspicion that I’m going to end up doing one, too. And fairly soon.
There’s been no mention of prizes or anything so far, but that’s fine with me … it just means that I get to re-experience this feeling at some point in the future, where I jump up and down and say “I won! I won!” over and over until someone has the good sense to sneak behind me, slap on a choke-hold, and put me to sleep.
I won’t say that’s happened once already, and I won’t say it hasn’t … but it has.
Thanks to everyone who voted for me, and a special thanks to all my fans. Without you, I’d probably still be plodding along, fixing this word and that, trying to get everything perfect before posting anything. It was your enthusiasm that helped finish the story in the time I did, which allowed me to qualify for the Watty awards in the first place.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to spend some time plodding along, fixing this word and that, trying to get everything perfect on *another* story. ;-)

on Feb7 13Good Job!
:O
That must have been a once in a lifetime situation.
Did Redforne despise your win? Did you accidentally kill Redforne’s Grandfather?
I wonder how long Redforne planned, just to do a choke hold…
on Feb7 13@J da – Oooo, don’t be bringing up Redforne like that, or that guy’s family will get angry and show up in a sequel.
… in, like, 2 books or so.
(Shhhhhh!) ;-)
on Feb9 13Congratulations, my friend. That is fantastic news!
