Motivation
on Dec29 2009There’s something to be said for that moment when you complete something that you’ve been putting all of your time into . . . your heart and soul, your blood, sweat, and tears. It makes for an interesting soup, if that’s what you’re after . . . although I’m sure that Chef Gordon Ramsay might have something to say about the end result. Something to the effect of, “What were you thinking, serving blood soup to customers, you stupid donkey!” And he’s right, really. All those tears make the whole thing wayyyyyyyyyy too salty.
Still, when it’s over and done and you’re looking at it, it’s like, “Wow, will you look at that. That feels good. I think I’ll sit here and bask for a while.”
And I suppose that sometimes, doing something like that can cripple you.
See, you get to this moment where the marathon is over, and you’ve won, and your arms are raised and you’re all like, “Wow, I can’t believe I did it! And I’m happy with how I did! This is great!” and you try to hang on to that feeling for as long as you can. Sometimes, you try to hang onto it even after it’s long since departed, and you’re getting calls from people who are looking forward to the day when you’re running your next marathon. I mean, you did so well on this one, right? Next one, you should be something to watch . . .
But honestly, the last thing you want to do after running a marathon is to start thinking about running another one, right? Makes it easy to push that thought aside . . . the one titled “Isn’t there something you should be working on?”
It’s true, and it’s sad, and it’s about time I forced my way out of it.
I have this site, I have these stories, and I have time. What I haven’t had lately is that voice inside my head that tells me “Hey, c’mon. Daylight’s burning.”
Changes are a’coming. More updates soon.
Hell, more everything soon.
And also, I hope for the best for you and yours this holiday season.
