Volume 2 of the journals of Vincent Tucat.
Completed: 100% – Chapter 25/25 118,000 words
Blurb: Vincent Tucat is the most talked-about Lord in all of Harael . . . and that’s probably not a good thing.
His reputation as a thief is growing quickly, and for obvious reasons. Dozens of things have gone missing from his fellow Lords these past few months. Important things, too. Priceless heirlooms, family keepsakes, irreplaceable artifacts – things that a smart thief wouldn’t even dream of touching. Everyone seems to know who’s to blame for it, too.
Many of these victimized Lords have been discussing the infamous Lord Tucat and his activities in hushed whispers, and lately they’ve started using words like ‘assassination’ and ‘murder’. A smart thief like Vincent would start returning these sorts of things to their owners soon, before the situation becomes too desperate. However, there’s just one problem with that idea – he isn’t the one behind these thefts, and has no clue who actually is.
So, in addition to thwarting daily robbery attempts, bringing willful merchants back in line, and countless other lordly duties, Vincent finds himself trying to learn the identity of the unknown thief in an attempt to clear his name. A smart move for any Lord who doesn’t wish to turn up dead in an alley somewhere.
Tracking down the thief who is framing him isn’t going too well, though. In fact, the only useful bit of information he’s found out is that the culprit chooses to disguise himself as a wraith, a gold-fearing incorporeal spirit reputed to steal the memories of the dead.
At least, Vincent hopes it’s a disguise . . .
